ISP Unveils Upgrades To 911 Centers Statewide

(Springfield, IL) — Illinois State Police is unveiling upgrades to 9-1-1 call centers around the state. The 169 9-1-1 call centers in Illinois have transitioned to Next Generation 9-1-1. The new system upgrades the traditional 911 service from voice-centric networks to secure, IP-based infrastructure designed to support today’s communications. Officials say the change means people in Illinois will have more efficient and reliable 9-1-1 emergency services.
