We will see a major change in weather as we go along today and tonight and that will include severe storms striking the area late tonight or early Friday morning.
Today we will see sunny skies and a high of 87. Winds from the southwest will gust better than 30 miles per hour today. Then, showers and thunderstorms for tonight and into Friday morning and we’ll see an overnight low reach to 40. Winds will shift to the north tonight and gust better than 30 miles per hour.
Meanwhile, severe storms will be striking the area tonight and into Friday morning. The National Weather Service in St. Louis says that thunderstorms will develop mainly behind a southward-moving cold front this evening–some of the storms will be severe. The thunderstorms behind the front will have a threat for large hail from 9 pm to 3 am tonight. The NWS adds an unlikely scenario is that thunderstorms also develop along and/or ahead of the front, which would additionally include damaging winds and a low tornado threat. As they say, that is unlikely but still possible for tonight.
