A power line was down south of Vandalia High School on Sunday afternoon. And, there were power outages in the area and some are still being dealt with this morning.
The report was of a power line down south of the high school that caused a fire in a tree in that area. Vandalia Fire Chief Zac Stombaugh says they were called out to a brush fire at that time and then were canceled on their way to the downed power line as officers on the scene were able to extinguish the fire.
Meanwhile, there were power outages in the 8th street/Veteran’s Avenue area during this time. At one point, Ameren listed better than 300 power outages in Vandalia on Sunday evening. that number is down in the 30’s as of this morning.
