The Vandalia School Board handled a large number of personnel items during its monthly meeting on Thursday. Five district resignations were approved by the board from Spanish Interpreter Aide Yadira Roman, VES Cook Malissa Cole, VCHS TLC Program Teacher Kasondra Murray, VCHS Custodian Josh Baker and VJHS Paraprofessional Josie Womack. The board then approved seven people for district employment. For VES, Jaden England was hired as Paraprofessional and Glenda Koberlein was hired VES Cook. For VJHS, Natasha Jackson was hired as a Paraprofessional. Four of employments approved were for VCHS as Preston Rice has been hired HS TLC Program Teacher for the 2026/27 school year and Charlina Northrop was hired as HS TLC Paraprofessional. And for the Physical Education department at VCHS, Matthew Wells has been hired as HS PE teacher and Jeff Lucken has been hired as Athletic PE teacher. Five intents to retire were approved at the meeting with Teresa Powell retiring at the end of this school year and Ron Thomason retiring June 30, 2028. Jill Boehm, Darrell Holbrook and Stacia Braun all had intents to retire approved for the end of the 2030-2031 school year. And wrapping up the personnel items, Ashley Knebel-Crayne was approved as VCHS Cheer Coach and the transfer of Aaron Alderson from 6th grade girls basketball to 7th grade girls basketball was approved.
