It is Primary Election Day in Illinois.
Polls open at 6 am today and will close at 7 pm.
Locally, Republicans will be deciding on their candidate for Fayette County Clerk. Incumbent Jessica Barker is running for re-election and is challenged in the primary by Kara Dugan.
Also, Republicans are deciding on 4th Judicial Circuit Judge today. Those running are Wesley Gozia, Fayette County State’s Attorney Brenda Mathis, Aaron C. Jones and Phillip Givens.
Also for Republicans, 15th district Congresswoman Mary Miller is challenged in today’s primary by Ryan Tebrugge and Judy Bowlby.
Statewide, Republicans are deciding on a candidate for Governor this fall. The Republican candidates are Darren Bailey, Ted Dabrowski, James Mendrick and Rick Heidner. The winner will face Democratic Governor J.B. Pritzker in the November General Election.
Also statewide, there are a slew of Democrat and Republican candidates running for U.S. Senate today. The winners from each party will square off in the November General Election, with the winner of that election to replace the retiring Dick Durbin.
