(Chicago, IL) — The family of the Reverend Jesse Jackson is disputing a claim that the late civil right leader endorsed Illinois Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton for the U.S. Senate. Stratton announced over the weekend that she had received a final personal endorsement from Jackson before his death last month. Yusef Jackson took back the endorsement yesterday, saying a draft sample ballot that was in development was released without authorization. He noted that the Jackson Family doesn’t issue political endorsements. The Lieutenant Governor is running for the seat being vacated by retiring U.S. Senator Dick Durbin.
