
We will be partly sunny, windy and warm today and severe storms are possible tonight.
Our forecast for today calls for partly sunny skies with a high of 78. We will see winds from the south gust better than 25 miles per hour today. Then, showers and storms likely tonight—mainly after midnight and into Wednesday morning—with a low of 57. Winds from the southwest tonight will gust better than 35 miles per hour.
Meanwhile, we have a threat of severe storms for tonight. In their latest Weather Briefing, the National Weather Service in St. Louis says scattered thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and become more numerous this evening. Some of these storms may be severe. The strongest storms are expected across parts of northeast Missouri and west central Illinois. All severe weather hazards will be possible including very large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes. Locally heavy rain is also possible in some areas. The NWS does add that thunderstorms will likely weaken by mid to late evening as they move to the southeast.
As of this time, the NWS says the estimated time for storms to arrive in our area would be after midnight and leave the area around 3 am to 6 am.
