There are always the various lists that will have things such as “10 best downtowns in Illinois” or “10 most affordable communities in Illinois” and you would always see a variety of answers but Vandalia did not seem to ever show up. But, an article last week that showed up on social media and was shared quite a bit locally did feature Vandalia exclusively. The article came from the site www.everafterinthewoods.com and was titled “This budget-friendly Illinois town offers the relaxed lifestyle retirees call their slice of heaven.”
Speaking on our podcast “Talking about Vandalia,” Mayor Doug Knebel says it is the type of thing they are happy to see shared to a wider audience about Vandalia.
And, he also adds he was happy to see it get shared quite a bit locally on social media.
