We are looking at partly sunny skies for tonight with a high of 49. Tonight we will have a chance of rain and that rain will mix with snow likely in the early Thursday morning hours as we’ll see a low of 32. The National Weather Service in St. Louis says most of the region will see some light rain late this evening through Thursday morning, though temperatures look cold enough to result in a light wintry mix in northeast MO and west-central IL. Given recent warmth, very little impact is expected.
Meanwhile, after a warm up on Thursday, Friday and Saturday we may be looking at winter precipitation for Sunday night and into Monday morning. In their latest Weather Briefing, the National Weather Service in St. Louis says after a few warmer days later this week, a strong cold front will bring much colder air back to the region. The NWS says confidence is increasing in wintry precipitation Sunday into Monday, though the location of highest impacts and exact precipitation types depend on the depth and location of the cold air itself. They add the warm air late in the week may knock down the impact of any major issues, but they say that is not certain.
