(Chicago, IL) — Governor Pritzker is still optimistic the Bears will stay in Illinois. The governor says there is a “broad agreement” about legislation that would allow the team to negotiate what it pays in property taxes for the proposed stadium in Arlington Heights.
A committee hearing on that legislation is scheduled for tomorrow in Springfield. Pritzker’s comments came the say day the Indiana House approved legislation to create a stadium authority to fund a new Bears stadium in Hammond. Pritzker said he is interested to see how the voters of Indiana feel about the massive proposed tax increases needed to build the new stadium.
