(Chicago, IL) — Governor Pritzker is “very disappointed” in the Bears for their response to Indiana’s efforts to lure the team out of Illinois. After Indiana lawmakers advanced legislation that would help the team build a stadium in Hammond, Indiana yesterday, the team released a statement calling the bill’s passage the most meaningful step forward in their stadium planning efforts to date. Pritzker said that it came to a surprise to him, considering his office had very positive discussions with the Bears on Wednesday and mostly agreed on a bill that would move forward. The governor said the team’s statement isn’t confirmation that they are moving to Indiana. He also reiterated that the state of Illinois isn’t going to build the Bears a new stadium with taxpayer dollars.
