As far as information and potential fixes go for the siltation issues for Vandalia Lake, it has been a little bit of “analysis paralysis” for the City of Vandalia.
Over the past several months, the City of Vandalia has been presented with multiple potential solutions for getting the siltation out of the lake and stopping it going forward. But, one thing they have not necessarily been able to nail down is just what a bottom-line cost would be for the different options they have heard about. The matter of the lake’s siltation was again a topic of discussion at both the Lake Committee meeting and the Vandalia City Council meeting on Tuesday. During his report, City Engineer Lee Beckman was asked by Mayor Doug Knebel and others to just bring forward some prices for the various fixes.
And, Alderman Andy Lester also had some thoughts on what may need to be done after the project was completed.
Speaking on our podcast “Talking about Vandalia,” Mayor Doug Knebel says he has committed to getting this taken care of—they just need more solid information on what they are looking at from a cost standpoint.
And, Knebel says once they get that full breakdown they can begin to figure out what plan they can afford and move forward.
