Despite falling behind early, the Dieterich Moovin’ Maroons used a big second-half surge to come away with a 72-48 win over the Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Bobcats in an NTC showdown on Friday night. The Bobcats started out on a 6-2 run, but the Maroons responded by going on a 14-10 run of their own to end the first quarter tied at 16. Dieterich would outscore CHBC 18-12 in the second quarter, entering halftime with a 34-28 lead. Both teams traded baskets to start the second half, but a slim 13-12 advantage for the Maroons would help them enter the fourth quarter with a 47-37 lead. Dieterich would close out the game on a 25-11 run, to come away with the 72-48 victory. The win improves the Maroons to 5-1 on the season, and 3-0 in NTC play. Dieterich will have a pair of tough matchups next week, taking on Lawrenceville on Tuesday before returning to conference play on Friday to take on St. Anthony. The Bobcats fall to 3-4 on the season, and 0-2 in NTC play. CHBC begins play at the St. Elmo Holiday Tournament on Tuesday to take on the three-seeded Windsor/Stew-Strass Hatchets.
