Altamont had 10 players reach the scoring column while South Central struggled to score more than 9 points in any quarter as the Indians ran away from the Cougars for a 65-22 win in National Trail Conference action at Altamont on Friday night. The Indians rushed out to a big lead, holding South Central to just one basket in the first quarter to go up 18-2 after the first eight minutes of play. The Cougars were able to put up nine points in the second quarter, but weren’t able to slow down Altamont at all as the Indians lead grew to 38-11 at halftime. A 21-7 third quarter run by the Indians saw their lead jump from 27 points to 41 points by the end of the quarter before a 6-4 advantage over the Cougars gave Altamont the 65-22 win over South Central. The Indians move to 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in the NTC and will have a quick turnaround as they return to action today at home against Casey-Westfield at 2:30pm. The Cougars fall to 2-5 on the season and 0-1 in the NTC. They too have a quick turnaround to their next game as they will play Ramsey this morning at 10:00am in a makeup game from a game cancelled earlier this week due to weather.
