The Vandalia School Board has approved a tentative tax levy for the new fiscal year with no increase.
At their meeting last week, the board approved the zero percent aggregate levy. Vandalia School Board member Adam Braun, who is also a member of the finance committee, says zero percent means zero new dollars.
The zero increase could result in a tax rate decrease in the amount that a property owner will pay in property taxes to the school district, but that also does depend on increase property values or any new construction. The Vandalia School Board approved the tentative tax levy at their meeting last week and would officially approve the tax levy at their December meeting.
