A Vandalia man is being held on multiple charges, including First Degree Murder, in connection with a missing teenager.
On Friday, the Vandalia Police Department reports they received a report of a missing person. And, that early in the afternoon on Friday, Vandalia Police Officers located a deceased individual. Fayette County Coroner Dave Harris reports the missing teenager was pronounced dead at 2:20 pm on Friday.
Then, Vandalia Police and other area law enforcement were actively searching for 43 year old Arnold B. Rivera, Junior. And, not long after that, Rivera, Junior was taken into custody. The Illinois State Police will be leading the investigation. They reported on Saturday their investigation is in its infancy at this point.
43 year old Arnold B. Rivera, Junior is facing pending charges of First Degree Murder, Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault and Concealing Homicidal Death. Rivera, Junior is being held in the Fayette County Jail. He will face formal charges in Fayette County Court at some point in the very near future.
