The Vandalia Police Department has released some more information on today’s incidents.
A release from the Vandalia Police Department says that at 6:34 am today, the Vandalia PD received a report of a missing person. In the early afternoon, Vandalia officers located a deceased individual. A suspect was then taken into custody in connection with the discovery. The release says the investigation is being led by the Illinois State Police. Assisting agencies include the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, the Fayette County Coroner’s Office, the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, the St. Elmo Police Department, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
