Meanwhile, the Northern Lights are visible over several states at this time. NOAA has issued a severe geomagnetic storm alert as it reports at least 21 states could see the aurora borealis. The view could last into Wednesday. The Northern Lights occur when the sun’s plasma interacts with the Earth’s magnetic field.
