Illinois taxpayers may find out they are on the hook for another tax increase before the week is over.
One of the many things legislators continue to hash out is how to address a fiscal cliff for mass transit estimated at $230 million. Senate Minority Leader John Curran said more money is not the answer.
Democratic State Senator Mike Simmons agreed that reforms are needed for the agency, but pushed for the House to pass the package the Senate approved in May that included $1.50 surcharge for retail delivery.
Legislators are scheduled to wrap up the fall Veto Session in Springfield today.
