(Springfield, IL) — A trial for the former Sangamon County Sheriff’s deputy charged in the killing of Sonya Massey last year is set to begin today in Peoria County. Sean Grayson will stand trial in front of a jury. He is charged with first-degree murder in Massey’s July 2024 shooting death inside her home. Protesters are expected to gather outside the courthouse.
