Fayette County is putting money aside for improvements at the Fayette County Jail as they work to meet state standards.
At their meeting on Tuesday night, the Fayette County Board approved $250,000 for a new locking system for the jail cells at the Fayette County Jail. Fayette County Board Chairman Jacob Harris says there is also a commitment for $250,000 each year for jail improvements as he says they are trying to meet state standards.
And, he says they have recently learned the price tag for improvement at the jail is not as high as originally thought.
The money for the new locking system will come from the Capitol Improvement Fund.
