
We will potentially see severe storms and heavy rainfall in the area today.
Our forecast calls for showers and storms for today with a high of 74. Then, showers and storms for tonight–with the potential for heavy rains–with a low of 49. We will start off the day with winds out of the south gusting better than 20 miles per hour but then shifting to the west for tonight and northwest tomorrow to bring down the area’s temps.
Meanwhile, severe weather is possible for this afternoon. In the latest Weather Briefing from the National Weather Service in St. Louis, it states waves of showers embedded with thunderstorms are expected through tonight as a cold front slowly moves through the region. There is a chance for severe storms today over the area with the greatest timing for strong to severe thunderstorms being between 12 pm and 6 pm today. The NWS says that if severe weather occurs, damaging wind is the primary threat along with locally heavy rainfall and a tornado is also possible. Meanwhile, the forecast rain for the area is 1.5 to 3 inches between today and tonight with a potential for a high end of 3.6 inches of rain over the area.
