Altamont soccer kicked off postseason play with a statement win, routing the Mt. Carmel Golden Aces, 7-0, at home on Friday night in the quarterfinals of their own Altamont 1A Regional. The Indians controlled the first half but found the back of the goal just once when Quincy Niermann broke up the scoreless game 17 minutes in on an assist from Ashton Buchanan for a 1-0 Altamont lead. The Indians turned up the pressure more in the second half with Buchanan scoring 12 minutes into the half on an assist from Juan Fulk and then put in an unassisted goal just a minute later for a 3-0 Indians lead. Kaleb Overton and Aiden Rosales added on goals to push the lead to 5-0 before a goal on a direct free kick from Cooper Pals made it 6-0 Altamont. The Indians wrapped up their scoring with an Andrew Ellersick goal on an assist from Micah Tenpenny to close out the dominant 7-0 win. The Indians now stand at 10-12 on the season and will take on Teutopolis in the Regional Semifinals on Monday at 6:30pm at Altamont Grade School. The two teams have met once this season already with the Indians taking a 2-0 loss in that game.
