(Springfield, IL) — Former Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan is behind bars, now serving the first full day of his seven-and-a-half year prison sentence on corruption charges. Madigan served 50 years in the state legislature, including 35 years as Speaker. Madigan’s tenure in the legislature is the longest of any lawmaker in Illinois history. He will be 90-years-old by the time he is released from prison.
