(Springfield, IL) — The former Sangamon County Sheriff’s deputy charged in the killing of Sonya Massey last year will head to trial later this month. Sean Grayson appeared yesterday for his final pre-trial hearing. He chose to stand trial in front of a jury. Proceedings are set to begin October 20th in Peoria County. Grayson is charged with first-degree murder in Massey’s July 2024 shooting death inside her home.
