Work is officially underway in the construction of a new water treatment plant in the City of Vandalia and a groundbreaking was officially held on Wednesday morning at the site of the new plant. The whole process from the beginning talks to this point has been nearly a decade and City Administrator LaTisha Paslay says to finally be at this point is a wonderful feeling for the city.
Mayor Doug Knebel says the new plant will be big for the residents and taxpayers as it will be more efficient and cost effective then the current outdated plant.
With the construction of a new water treatment plant being one with a sizable price tag, Engineer Lee Beckman with Milano & Grunloh says they have worked hard to secure grants and other infrastructure money to help with the cost of the new plant
The new plant is located just off of Fillmore Street east of Sunset Drive on land donated to the city. We will have more from the groundbreaking coming up tomorrow on Newscenter.
