It has been a week and folks still have many questions on the issues that came up from the City of Vandalia oiling streets last Tuesday. And, Vandalia Mayor Doug Knebel says they are still working to get all the answers.
It was 8 days ago that people experienced a large amount of issues, with oil getting on their vehicles and then driveways, garages and other places after the oiling of streets. Speaking on our podcast “Talking about Vandalia,” Mayor Knebel says they believed the combination of using a new type of rock and then the heavy rains right after led to the issues. He adds they are going to fully assess the situation and they are still working to get all the answers they can.
Mayor Knebel adds the City of Vandalia picked back up on oiling streets on Monday and Tuesday and there don’t appear to be any issues. He adds they did put additional rock on the streets that were a major problem last week to help take care of any further issues. He also thanked the public. He says most of the folks that have contacted the city have handled it professionally.
