Vandalia Lake was again a major topic of discussion at last Monday’s Vandalia City Council meeting.
A large group of Vandalia Lake residents were again on hand for the Vandalia City Council meeting and there was a lot of discussion by a retired Engineer and also a grant writer. Speaking during our podcast “Talking about Vandalia,” Mayor Doug Knebel says the conversation really had two separate tracks. He says one track was having the grant writer put together their bid for a grant to get together a Water Shed plan. And, Mayor Knebel says that will be a big help with long term planning at the Lake.
The other part is on more immediate work in the interim and Mayor Knebel says those meetings and discussions will be ongoing.
The segment of the Vandalia City Council where the Lake issue was discussed was quite lengthy. After that time, Alderman Bret Brosman reminded his fellow City Council members to focus on the big picture.
And, Brosman added the overall health and well-being of the entire lake has to come first.
The major issue is dealing with the siltation of the lake, to be able to dredge the problem areas and also how to stop it from happening again once it is dredged.
