On Tuesday, City of Vandalia crews began to oil and rock some streets in town (including Jefferson Street, Main Street and others) and there was a new type of rock used that seemed to cause issues and the heavy rains yesterday afternoon and evening may have also played a role. Mayor Doug Knebel says city crews are working to address the issue today and he advises everyone to stay off those streets if possible. Mayor Knebel also added they are opening Randolph Street (at least temporarily) this morning to help with the issue.
