Mr. Hauskins was born on Aug. 22, 1949, in Pana, to the late Ross and Rosalyn Hauskins. He graduated from Ramsey High School, where he was a talented athlete, playing baseball and basketball. In addition, he excelled at track, qualifying for the state meet.
Serving in both Vietnam and Germany, Mr. Hauskins was a proud Army veteran. He received his degree from ITT Technical Institute in Indianapolis, IN, and worked many years as an electrical engineering technician for Dickey John in Auburn until his retirement. Family and friends remember he was very talented at designing, building and repairing anything.
Outside of his career, Mr. Hauskins enjoyed golfing with his “golf buddies.” He especially enjoyed a trip to watch the Masters golf tournament in Augusta, GA. An avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, he enjoyed genealogy, working in his yard and growing his favorite flowers, building a goldfish pond and feeding the birds. His family often referred to him as the butterfly whisperer because he raised and released hundreds of monarchs over the past several years.
His family was always very important to him and he was a caring person, always ready to help anyone.
Mr. Hauskins is survived by his sister, Mary (Joe) McCoy of Flora; brother, Dave (Mary) Hauskins of Sparta; nephews, Michael (Jennifer) McCoy of Machesney Park, Matthew (Ashley) McCoy of Marion, Mark McCoy of Charleston and Seth (Brigid) Hauskins of Denver, CO; niece, Rachel (Billy) Rheinecker of Sparta; great-nieces, Maisie McCoy, Winnie McCoy and Avery and Ellie Hauskins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
