The South Central Cougars rallied from a four-run deficit, but couldn’t close the gap as they fell 8-7 to the Christ Our Rock Lutheran Stallions in their fall season opener. The Cougars got on the board in the top of the first inning when Ryker Dodson singled to score Chase Guerrettaz. After a scoreless bottom of the first, South Central added 2 more runs after a bases-loaded hit by pitch and a wild pitch to take a 3-0 lead. The Stallions would tie the game after a three-run bottom of the second, but the Cougars would once again respond when an RBI double from Sebastion Kruger would give them a 4-3 lead. CORL would blow the game open, scoring four runs in the third and one in the fifth to take an 8-4 lead. South Central would not go away quietly after scoring one run in the fifth and two in the sixth to cut the deficit to one. The Cougars would put the tying run on with two outs in the seventh inning, but could not bring him in as they fell to CORL 8-7. The loss drops South Central to 0-1 on the season. They will be back in action on Saturday when they take on Woodlawn in a doubleheader.
