The Vandalia Fire Department handled an early Monday morning structure fire.
Vandalia Fire Chief Zac Stombaugh says that they were called to a structure fire at Joyce’s Doggie Styles at 127 S. 2nd Street in downtown Vandalia at 4:02 am on Monday morning. Chief Stombaugh says they arrived to smoke coming out of the eaves and found two rooms inside the structure heavily involved with fire. He says crews were able to make a quick knock down of the fire. Chief Stombaugh adds there were no occupants at the time of the fire and the building sustained heavy fire, smoke and water damage. Chief Stombaugh adds the origin of the fire is unknown at this time and they are working with State Fire Marshal investigators on the cause. Chief Stombaugh says there about 12 Firefighters on the scene for about 2 hours.
