(Chicago, IL) — Illinois is working to protect consumers from Cryptocurrency scams. Governor Pritzker signed two bills that create safeguards for cryptocurrency and other digital assets. The Digital Assets and Consumer Protection Act protects Illinoisans by establishing regulatory oversight of cryptocurrencies, while the Digital Asset Kiosk Act creates protections against scams and fraud for consumers who utilize digital asset kiosks. The FBI says Illinois consumers lost 272-million-dollars in fraud cases involving cryptocurrency in 2024.
