(Chicago, IL) — Michael Madigan is being ordered to report to prison while he appeals his conviction in his corruption case. A federal judge denied a request by the former Illinois House Speaker to remain free. Madigan must report to federal prison on October 13th to begin a seven-and-a-half-year sentence behind bars. He was found guilty in February of bribery and other corruption counts. Federal prosecutors say Madigan conspired with others to get ComEd to make monetary payments to his associates in exchange for favorable legislation.
