Candidates aiming to participate in Illinois’ primary elections next March have begun gathering signatures on their nominating petitions.
Illinois State Board of Elections Public Information Officer Matt Dietrich said filing dates are October 27 through November 3 for Democrats and Republicans to submit petitions for the March 17th primaries.
The signature process started August 5.
Dietrich said independents and candidates from other parties file later because they don’t have primaries.
Filing for these candidates is May 18-25, 2026.
