(Mattoon, IL) — A murder and kidnapping suspect out of Kansas is in custody after being arrested in Mattoon. Police reported yesterday that Christopher Barnshaw was a suspect in a double murder in Topeka, Kansas and he could be in the city of Mattoon. Barnshaw was believed to have taken a child of one of the victims and fled the area. Police arrested the suspect after he was pulled over at the intersection of Route 16 and Beechtree Road in Mattoon. The two-year-old child that was reported missing was located in the back seat, unharmed. Barnshaw was charged with Aggravated Kidnapping and Unlawful Use of a Weapon and transported to Coles County Jail.
