(Springfield, IL) — The Illinois Department of Public Health is confirming that West Nile Virus has been found in mosquito samples in 17 counties this year in Illinois. No human cases of the virus have been reported in the state so far in 2025. Last year, there were 69 confirmed human cases of West Nile, including 13 deaths, the highest number since 17 human deaths were recorded in 2018.
