A pedestrian was killed in an accident on Interstate 70 in Bond County early this morning.
Illinois State Police Troop 8 reports they responded to Interstate 70 west bound at exit 45 in Bond County at about 2:55 am this morning for the report of a personal injury crash involving a pedestrian and a commercial motor vehicle. State Police reports say an adult male patient being transported by Carle Ambulance became combative during transportation and the vehicle stopped on the shoulder. State Police reports say the patient exited the ambulance and ran into the lane of traffic and was struck by a truck-tractor/semi-trailer approaching the area. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with injuries and later was confirmed to have died. Multiple lanes were closed on scene but re-opened later in the day.
