Brownstown-St. Elmo senior thrower Trenten Monnet is now a two-time state medalist as he finished in fourth place in the Shot Put at the IHSA 1A State Track Finals. Monnet had a bit of a rough day on Saturday as he would foul on his fourth, fifth and sixth throws during Finals competition in the event. However, he had a best throw of 53’ during the Prelims on Thursday that carried over to the Finals and held up for the fourth place finish. This year’s placing is an improvement from his sixth place finish that came in last year’s State Finals in the Discus. Monnet qualified for State in both events this year, but did not advance to Finals in the Discus in this year’s meet. Monnet was the first boys State medalist for BSE and is now the first boys two-time state medalist for BSE and the second overall for the program, joining girls two-time State medalist Claire Wilhour.
