A bill which would force insurance companies to cover laser hair removal has returned to the Illinois House after it was approved in the Senate.
An amended version of House Bill 3248 is in the House for concurrence.
State Senator Dave Syverson said the proposal would hurt small employers and make health insurance more expensive.
State Senator Graciela Guzmán said the bill is for medically-necessary hair removal.
According to WebMD, gender-affirming care refers to treatments that support a transgender or nonbinary person in their gender transition.
