An accident on U.S. Route 51 in Fayette County on Tuesday morning led to multiple injuries.
Illinois State Police Troop 9 reports they responded to the accident on Tuesday morning at 7:12 am on U.S. Route 51, south of East 2000 Avenue. The accident was a two unit, rollover traffic crash involving a tractor-trailer and a passenger car. The driver of the tractor-trailer and the driver of the passenger car were both airlifted to regional hospitals with injuries. All lanes of Route 51 were closed at the time and then reopened at 9:39 am. State Police says there is not further information at this time.
