For the fourth consecutive year, the South Central Lady Cougars softball team calls themselves Regional Champions after defeating the host Hutsonville/Palestine Lady Tigers 3-1 on Friday. The Lady Tigers got on the board first with a solo home run, but South Central would respond quickly when Kyra Swift reached on a walk and advanced to second on a passed ball. Maddie Peddicord would then single to score Swift to tie the game at one. The Lady Cougars would take the lead in the third inning when Lauren Johnson’s sacrifice bunt allowed Kaitlyn Swift to score, giving them a 2-1 lead. A Kinlee Thompson RBI single in the fourth inning would give South Central a 3-1 lead, and Peddicord would hold the Lady Tigers scoreless the last 3 innings to secure the 3-1 win. The Lady Cougars improve to 19-10 on the season. They will take on the winner of the Martinsville and Casey-Westfield game that will be played at 10 AM on Saturday.
