Altamont softball could not solve the pitching and defense of Windsor/Stew-Stras and suffered an 8 to 0 loss in the Championship game of the Windsor 1A Regional on Friday. The Hatchets scored on a steal of home in the bottom of the second inning to open the game’s scoring and take a 1-0 lead. WSS then put three runs across the plate to push their lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the third inning. The Lady Indians got their first baserunner of the game in the top of the fourth inning when senior Grace Lemke drew a walk. A double play would erase the baserunner and end the inning though as Altamont continued to trail 4-0. After scoreless fourth and fifth innings, WSS doubled up their lead over Altamont after scoring four more runs to go up 8-0 at the end of the sixth inning. The Lady Indians were held scoreless again in the seventh inning as they were handed the 8-0 loss to bring their season to a close. Altamont finishes the season at 19-10.
