The City of Vandalia’s new Water Treatment Plant is set to break ground this summer. But, a shortfall in the final budget numbers for the project could cost the City about $600,000.
During Wednesday night’s Vandalia City Council meeting, Engineer Lee Beckman of Milano & Grunloh Engineering talked about the Water Treatment Plant project. He says the Build American, Buy American Act—or BABA–would be the overage in the budget.
But, Beckman did say the City could potentially get a waiver for the BABA money and if the contingency in the budget went the City’s way that could potentially make up that $600,000 shortfall. The total cost of the project is $26,094,428. Beckman says they should be ready to break ground in July.
