The Vandalia School District has completed the purchase of the former Kanata Blanket property.
At their meeting last Thursday, the School approved the closing of the property at 1500 Veterans Avenue. Vandalia Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jennifer Garrison says they closed on the property on Tuesday at a cost of $577,026.22 and they should get the keys in a few days. The property will be used for expansion of the OKAW Area Vocational programs.
The Vandalia School District is looking to move forward on new VCHS Tennis Courts. The Vandalia School Board has a bid of $572,600 from Shores Builders. Dr. Garrison says $300,000 of the cost will be from the bonds that were sold with the tennis courts being on their Priority A list. Also, Dr. Garrison says she was notified this week by Vandalia Mayor Doug Knebel that the School District’s TIF 1 Extension Reimbursement for eligible expenses is $197,732.85. With that revenue, Dr. Garrison says they are able to move forward with the tennis court project. The school board had a motion to consider moving forward with the project, which would include 6 new courts on the VCHS campus to replace the current four courts.
Meanwhile, today is the final day of student attendance for the 2024-25 school year for the Vandalia School District.
