We are looking at partly sunny, windy and warmer conditions during the day today.
We’ll see partly sunny skies with a high of 89. Winds from the southeast will gust better than 20 miles per hour today.
Meanwhile, we have a threat of severe weather tonight. Our forecast calls for scattered showers and storms for tonight with a low of 61. The National Weather Service in St. Louis says a cold front moving across the region today may serve as the focus for thunderstorms (20-30% chance). If thunderstorms do form, a storm or two may become strong to severe this evening.
Meanwhile, there is an even great chance of severe weather on Friday afternoon and evening. The NWS says severe thunderstorms are expected to develop largely along and south of I-44 (MO) and I-70 (IL) during the afternoon and evening on Friday. The main hazard with these storms will be very large hail, up to the size of baseballs. This hail will be able to do significant damage to vehicles, people, and buildings. 60+ mph winds and a few tornadoes are also possible. And, there is a chance of strong tornadoes.
