While there is a threat of severe weather on Thursday, the bigger threat of severe weather for the area is on Friday.
The National Weather Service in St. Louis says severe thunderstorms are expected to develop largely along and south of I-44 (MO) and I-70 (IL) during the afternoon and evening on Friday. The main hazard with these storms will be very large hail, up to the size of baseballs. This hail will be able to do significant damage to vehicles, people, and buildings. 60+ mph winds and a few tornadoes are also possible.
