The Vandalia City Council has extended the contract for the City’s Department Heads until June 16th.
The extension is for City Administrator LaTisha Paslay, Police Chief Jeff Ray, Public Works Director James Jackson, Cemetery Superintendent Sam Kerr, Code Official Zac Kopp, Water Plant Superintendent Andy Gelsinger and Sewer Plant Superintendent Mike Anderson. The extension was at the request of Mayor Doug Knebel, as these are all the employees that are under the Mayor’s appointment. Mayor Knebel says the extension gives him time to sit down and meet with the department heads and go through the actual agreements. Mayor Knebel says he doesn’t anticipate any issues but this just allows him time.
The Vandalia City Council also approved a new three year agreement with Timmermann and Company to complete the City’s yearly audit. For the year ending April 30th, 2025 the contract is for $35,000. It then is $37,500 for the next year and $40,000 for the 3rd year of the agreement. Mayor Doug Knebel says the city is fortunate to have a local company complete the audit for them, as the county has struggled with finding someone local.
