The Vandalia girls track and field team took second place in the South Central Conference Meet on Tuesday at Carlinville. The Lady Vandals finished with 93 points, coming in behind first place North Mac with 141 points and ahead of third place Carlinville with 89.5 points. The Lady Vandals have four conference event champions with senior Sophie Bowers winning the 400m Dash, junior Joselyn Murray winning the 1600m Run, junior Hannah Brown winning the Shot Put and sophomore winning the High Jump. The 4×100 relay team of Sophia McNealy, Destinee Rine, Neveah Sachan and Sophie Bowers turned in a second place finish. Next up for the Lady Vandals will be the Ellis Invite Meet in Altamont on Monday before they begin postseason competition in the IHSA Class 1A Sectional at Newton on Wednesday, May 14.
