The Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Bobcats put the tying run on second base in the top of the seventh inning with two outs, but the Brownstown/St. Elmo Bombers held on for a 3-2 win on Wednesday afternoon at Bob Page Field. After two and a half scoreless innings, the Bombers got on the board first when Dodge Willms broke the tie with an RBI single to make it 1-0. BSE added a run in the fourth inning off a Nolan Wilhour single to score courtesy runner Calvin Voelker making it 2-0. The Bombers added one more run in the fifth inning after Willms reached on an error to score Keelan Speagle to give BSE a 3-0 lead. The Bobcats would not go away quietly in the top of the seventh however after the first two runners reached base, Isaac Wells would hit a sacrifice fly to score Kyle Lamb to cut the deficit to 3-1. One batter later, Blake Mueller would double to score Connor Vaughn making it a 3-2 game, but Speagle would get a strikeout to secure the Bombers with the 3-2 win. The win improves BSE to 6-12 on the season. They will have Senior Day on Thursday when they take on Christ Our Rock Lutheran. CHBC falls to 5-12 on the season.
